Sauk Cross Country Sends Eight to Nationals

The Sauk Valley Skyhawks traveled to Kishwaukee College in Malta for the NJCAA Region IV Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The course was set up on the school’s campus and had the women running a 5k and the men running an 8k. The Skyhawks had an outstanding showing, sending four women and four men onto the National Championships to be held at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, November 13, 2021.

The women’s squad was paced by Melissa Allen (Sophomore, Bushnell-PC), with a 9th place finish. Madison Bland (Sophomore, Sterling) followed as the second Skyhawk runner. Mika Martinez (Freshman, Sterling) and Jorden Robinson (Freshman, Erie/Prophetstown) came in with high enough finishes to punch their tickets to Nationals.

For the men, all four Skyhawks in the Race advance to run at the National Championships. Led by Chris Link (Sophomore, Erie/Prophetstown), the championship field will also include Cameron Abell (Sophomore, Erie/Prophetstown), Reece Bohms(Sophomore, Princeton) and Ruben Leal (Sophomore, Sterling).
